My guinea-pigs aren't interested in toys much, except a tunnel they have, but I was looking after a goldendoodle and it kept trying to chew the tunnel so it's falling apart now. I've tried balls, 2 roll-along things and little hide-away things and they don't seem interested in any of them. My guinea-pigs only started getting toys about a year ago because i didn't know much about toys, so do you think they aren't interested because they aren't used to them? Also, do you know of any good guinea-pig toys I could try? I want to try loads of different toys for them so that they get the chance to play more. Thanks

Anything that makes lots of noise that has no sharp edges should be ok. Soup cans, quaker oats tops, just make sure it's clean. If you have anything hanging from the ceiling that has bells on it and they aren't playing with it, you could try putting a small amount of treat (peanut butter maybe? don't know if they can have that) and when the lick it, they should get the idea of the bells.

Thank you, I'm not sure if they can have peanut butter, I could always stick some dandelions out the side of it or carrot or celery or something. Thanks, I have a ball with a bell on it, I can tie a bit of string to it and hang it from the top of the run.

My pigs never seem to respond to toys!! I found that if i want to give them a real treat, I'lll stuff a kitchen roll tube with grass and weeds! It keeps mine happy for ages! Elly x

Thanks everyone. I've heard they like paper bags? I went to Primark today and bought clothes and they give you paper bags instead of plastic bags now. I was going to put that in the run for them to hide in and play with because apparently guinea-pigs like hiding in them but I was worried if they'd chew it, would it be bad for them? Or would it not effect them at all? I know my guinea-pigs sometimes have a little chew on the newspaper in their hutches (they pull it up and tip sawdust everywhere lol) and that doesn't seem to bother them. I'd also cut the handles off, I don't know why but I'd feel they were safer for some reason if the handles weren't on. I'd obviously watch them for the first half hour and then I'd come back and check on them in bewteen.

If there are a bunch of dyes then I would worry but if not it should be fine.

Ok thank you, I'll put the bag in the run tommorow and see what the guinea-pigs think of it.

Today I put lots of grass in the bag and put it in the run, and 3 of my sows ran in there and are now eating all the grass. They haven't started chewing the bag yet, but I think they might do after they've eaten all the grass. I took some photos to show you all but I've lost my camera lead
