I'm breeding 2 of my guinea-pigs, and so they are living together in a temporary hutch until they have babies. Normally they live in quite big hutches but because it's only for 6 weeks, they are living in this hutch. Do you think it's big enough? They seem quite happy in it, they walk around it a lot and so they don't seem unhappy, and they are in a run all day from 9am-9pm so they are getting plenty of exercise. What do you think? (Sorry it's a bad picture and the hutch isn't great)

I think it's good. It's about the same size as a regular rabbit hutch, so as long as they are getting plenty of excersize, it should be ok. I would say for guinea pigs, if you put 3 piggies in a straight line, if it's at least that long, it should be ok.

Ok thanks. Once the babies are born they will go with their Mum into a bigger hutch with other females which is big enough for all of them and Barry will go back in with Billy, the guinea-pig he used to live with.

Not all males are willing to share space with another male once they have been used as a breeder. Serious injuries can occur and if they are housed outside you will not be there to intervene.

They have lived together before, I will re-introduce them the same way I did when they first met and if it doesn't work Barry will stay in a seperate hutch.

Do they need air ventilation or a little sunlight inside when the doors are closed? I don't know about this stuff. Just asking

You can't really see in the picture, but the bigger door has a wire mesh front

My guinea-pigs don't get locked up. They go in the run every day and I make sure all the hutches have wire mesh fronts so they get sunlight.

I don't know if shes had babies yet, but I'd worry about the wire mesh. whats the inches of them. My babies could get threw 1 inch wide cube grids when they where born. If she hasn't had them yet I would look into making it harder for the babies to get threw. Thats only if you plan on having them in their after they are born.

She hasn't had them yet and I moved her and Barry into another hutch. I only realized about 2 weeks after I moved Barry and Kiki into that hutch that one of my other guinea-pigs was on his own in an even bigger hutch, so they've swapped hutches so that they have more room.
