So I went to PetSmart and they sell Oxbow pellets and hay there. I got a bag of the pellets (I'll hold off on the hay because i still have some left). I got the cavy cuisine for adult pigs. They didnt sell the Oxbow for young piggies so hopefully the adult formula will be okay. I'm really not sure of my piggies age anyway. The bag says to introduce the Oxbow to them over a 4 week period. That seems kind of dramatic - is it really necessary to do it over 4 weeks? Also, I went to the market to get fresh veggies to try again. I cut up carrots into the size of quarters and cut up bell pepper and romain lettuce. I put some of her other "treats" on the same tray as the veggies but she still wont touch em!! I dont want to keep wasting veggies; how long should they be out for before i put them back in the fridge?

Okay because on the bag it said for under 6 months to get the cusine for the youngsters but they didnt sell that there. I'm not sure of her age either. I think I'll go ahead and give her the Oxbow. What do you feed your pig?

I have three guinea pigs, they all eat Timothy Complete Pellets, and Timothy Hay, and then their veggies.

Cavy Cuisine is a timothy-based pellets and usually suggested for adults. Oxbow's Cavy Performance is an alfalfa-based pellets which is needed for young pigs. If you can't get any of the alfalfa-based pellets then you can get some alfalfa hay to add to her diet.

I didn't know they did different age food for guinea-pigs. I know cat and dog foods have puppy and adult foods, is it a bit like that but for guinea-pigs? My guinea-pigs have adult food from when they are born, is that bad?

Well, it depends on what you mean by adult pellets. Babies need alfalfa and it can be found as hay or in alfalfa-based pellets.

I'm not sure about this, but if it's a baby piggie, wouldn't it need a different protein based diet than the adults??? I'm assuming that if an adult piggie as a high protein diet, it would be a lower protein for a baby piggie. You might want to check all that on the back. Protein, calcium, etc... If you do have a young piggie, than it could be affecting her digestive health too.

Alfalfa has calcium, which they need until about 6 months old.
