Gracie was a verry lovable Basset Hound who (being pure bred) had some type of problem. She had a faulty heart. Something was wrong with it and thats all I know. One day she was running around happily and would greet us at the back door with barks and loving licks. The next day was the same but we had to leave for a while and when we came back she was laying next to the house on her side with a bloated belly. We got her in the back of the truck and rushed her to the vet. On the way there she perked up and seemed fine. The vet gave us some meds. for he and that went on for about a week untill the same thing happened again. This time someone had to ride in the back of the truck with her and she didn't perk up. When we got to the vet we told tem it was an emergency and got into a room with the vet after three minutes. He explained there was nothing he could do but give her meds. and that would only expand her life weeks at a time untill it would happen again. My dad simply told him that she shouldn't have to suffer any more. My sister and I fleaed the room and waited for our parents to return. My Mom and Dad had stayed to see her off. My sister and I couldn't bear to see it. Afterward when we got home, my sister and I went to our rooms and cried for an hour or more. When I finally left my room, my mom had cried and told me that my Dad had been in their room the whole time with the door locked. He wouldn't admit to it but I know he was crying. Gracie truely was man's best friend.......

She was old too. About a month after we got a new dog, Blake the 3 lb. devil. Then not long after we got him, a few weeks anyways, we got another yorkie named Christie the 8 lb. licking machine. Christie had been abused by crack heads who left her outside for 4 days without food or water. One of my Dad's co-workers rescued her but she had two Jack Russels who played too rough and were the size of two of her. She was afraid they would end up killing her or hurting her. Blake came from another one of my Dad's co-workers who had another yorkie and for some reason Blake didn't like her. So she gave him to my Dad.
