I am still new to piggys. I read that piggy's can live up to 9 years, is this true?
Also, I am going on vacation in July. My boyfriend agreed to piggysit for me but I'm nervous because he has a cat. I told him that my piggy needs to be able to run around freely at least once a day for some time because she cannot be in the petstore cage all day long (shes in petstore cage because shes a little one and her head gets caught in grids of C&C). Anyway, her living conditions will be very different for a week and I'm so sad to leave her. Do you think she will be alright (no stress from missing me and her normal home environment)? I would take her on vacation with me but will be traveling by car for 9 hours and i think that might cause her a lot of stress. Plus I'll be going to high elevation in the mountains and it might cause her discomfort.

She'll be fine I think. As long as he knows how much to feed her and tell him to not let the cat near the pig. And yes, some piggies can live to be 9 years old or even 10! The longest living piggy was 14 years and 10 months, almost 15 years old.

But you think its better to leave her at my boyfriends house rather than bring her on vacation with me? My neices who I will be meeting up with in the mountains want me to bring Georgia but I told them it will probably be too stressful on her. Of course I'd rather take her with me but I can't be selfish, I have to do whats best for Georgia!

I think 9 hours in the car might be too stressful for her. You can try it if you want but all the stress might make her ill. And on the car ride for 9 whole hours is kind of a lot for her first long ride and all the stress, so probably not.

Yeah, the longest car ride she has had was a three hour drive to my parents house. She was a little stressed from that so I think you're right, its best to leave her here. I'll miss her though!!!

Oh I know, that will be sad for you to have to leave her here. But she'll be fine here. Yeah, and if she got stressed a little on a 3 hour drive, that would be pretty stressful for an 8 hour one. I've never went on a vacation since I've had piggies

I just went away for 4 days on a vacation, and left my Guinea Pigs with relatives. They were perfectly fine, and I'm sure they would've been fine for a week if I had to. I've had my Guinea Pigs in a 3 hour car ride, and it knocked them all right out (as in, they fell asleep =P) but not all Pigs react the same way to a car ride. I would be safe and just stick to letting your boyfriend take care of your pig. =)
