Just an idea for your cages or running areas. The other night at Wal-Mart i purchased Blue Ribbon (walmart brand) of doggie training pads for indoor dogs. They are big squares that dogs can use the restroom on indoors. I got some to put in the corner of Georgia's cage where she goes to the restroom and i also put some under my futon couch as she likes to lounge under there when i let her run around. This way it protects my carpet and helps her cage stay less wet and more sanitary. Oh yeah and the pack has like 14 pads and it was only 3 dollars and some change.

Haha, my puppy uses these... for his cage at nights. I know all about 'em. Dingo, is my puppy. This is a very good idea for guinea pig cages, because you just roll them up and then replace it! And 14 pads is a good deal for only 3 dollars. My puppy always uses them at nights when he goes in his cage. They work pretty good, I should try them on my guinea pigs sometime, maybe.

When we got our current dogs one of their owners gave us a full pack and I think its a good idea as long as the piggy will walk on them. (I dont see why they wouldn't because they are soft when dry anyways....)

Okay, I was just wondering, thanks for answering. Is it bad if they ate a little, though? I mean, chewing a hole in it is bad, but if they swallowed some it's even worse. And since my guinea pigs are in the other room, I can't akways keep a good eye out on them, but I am in there a lot. Sorry so many questions... I like asking and learning about guinea pigs

Yeah thats true. Today i completely burried hers in her bedding, do you think i should take it out to be on the safe side? I was so proud of my idea but if it will harm her maybe it isnt a good idea.

Well, I might because of the harming part. I don't know, now that you think about it, that is kind of dangerous!! Maybe you should? To be on the safe side?

Oh what a good idea! I'm sure as long as you layer it, your pigs can't get to it. I good layering would be - Newspaper, padding in a corner, bedding. =) I'm sure your Guinea pig won't be able to chew it as long as you don't put it by itself in a corner, or it doesn't stick up from the bedding!

I was using them for a bit, but all my guinea pig would do was hid underneath them, same thing with newspaper. i currently have two towels safety pinned together and he still tries to crawl underneath them. he never chewed on them either.

is newspaper okay for piggies in the cages? Because i heard if they chew it and ingest it it could make them sick? Its so much easier for clean up if i use newspaper but i dont want to put my baby at harm.

Good idea. I use newspaper in my hutch and have done for the amount of time I've had guinea-pigs (8 years) and my guinea-pigs have been fine. They do rip it up, and sometimes eat little bits of it but never much and they have been fine, though if they don't eat these pads they sound better then newspaper because they'd be more absorbent.

I put the doggie training pads in Chewie's cage and put fleese on top. I cut the fleese larger than the cage and it's secured by the wire top This is the first week trying this rather than using the yucky messy wood chips. My daughter or I just have to pick up his poo everyday. Easy!
